For Mobile and Refrigeration Systems

A/C Background

When an air conditioning system leaks, the system loses not only its refrigerant, but its lubricating oils as well. The result of simply refilling a system with a refrigerant every few weeks will generally result in a compressor failure within a few months. These leaks occur for a number of reasons including: corrosion, shaft seal wear, loose fittings and others. Leaks tend to occur in one of four places:
  • EVAPORATORS
  • CONDENSERS
  • FITTINGS
  • COMPRESSOR SHAFT SEALS
Our SSR R-134a Kits are designed to SEAL and PERMANENTLY REPAIR the first three types of leaks listed above. Shaft seal leaks require the replacement of the seals because it is a moving part. The vast majority of vehicles today are produced with their evaporator cores installed inside the dashboard. To replace the evaporator, the dashboard must first be physically removed from the car and then reinstalled after the part is changed. This is a TOUGH 10-30 hour job. This requires a high skill level from the technician. Since the dashboard is removed; loose wiring, disconnected vacuum hoses, and rattling problems often occur when the dashboard is reinstalled. The job typically costs a customer from $2000-$6000 for the job, depending on location. Because of the high cost, the ratio of jobs quoted to jobs done is LOW. Also, since there is little standardization of evaporator cores, availability of parts is often the problem.

Condensers

Condensers while easier to replace, are also a very costly item to a customer. A typical condenser replacement is a time consuming job. The main reason for the high cost is the current pricing of condenser cores themselves. Also, the condensers suffer from the same standardization, availability, and dead inventory problems associated with evaporators.

Next to Impossible to Find Leaks

Our SSR-134a Kits have proven superior in the 2-3 week type of leak which is impossible to track down; as long as the technician can eliminate the compressor shaft seal leak as the source of the leak, (easy to do) the SSR-134a Kit can be added to the system without having to search for the leak. SSR 134a Kits offer the technician and customer a favorable alternative to the replacement of these EVAPORATORS AND CONDENSERS, thus A WIN-WIN FOR ALL!!

Advantages
of our SSR 134a Kits process over part replacement are as follows:

  • LOWER SELLING COST TO CUSTOMER ½ or less the price of replacing part.

  • HIGHER PRODUCTIVITY-jobs are completed in 40-50 minutes instead of hours.

  • LOWER RISKS OF COMEBACKS-since parts are repaired in place, the risk of loose dashboards etc. are eliminated.

  • RELIABILITY-Our SSR R-134a Kits are used in all makes and models of mobile air conditioners and other refrigerated systems. Mobile systems includes domestic and foreign successfully for 21 years since R-134a was introduced as a replacement for R-12. Our product is also used in refrigerated systems using R-134a freon.

What Our Products Are Not

SSR R-134a Kits are NOT a typical “stop leak” as is commonly used for radiators today. These “stop leaks”, work by introducing either solids or fibers into a system. As they leak out, these solids plug or dam the leak. Products of this type simply will not work in air conditioning systems since solids would plug the capillaries and orifice in the system.

What Our Products Are

SSR R-134a Kit
is introduced into the system as a LIQUID. It then circulates through the system with the refrigerant until it reaches a leak; as it leaves the system it reacts with oxygen and moisture in the air (humidity) to then form a SOLID SEAL. Because of this, there is no way for it to restrict the system internally.

Procedure Guide

SSR R-134a Kits
are relatively easy to use, given you have mobile air conditioning experience and are licensed ASE/609 MACS, MVAC certification. Click to see our SSR R-134a Procedure Guide.
